Mercury is combust — communication, learning, business acumen appear subdued or expressed indirectly. Traditionally the native may under-value their own intelligence or struggle to translate ideas into speech. Effect softens dramatically for close conjunctions (deep cazimi-like state can INSTEAD strengthen). This is a pattern named in the classical texts. It is not a verdict, and many people who have it live happily.
