Lakshmi Yoga (Phaladeepika form)

Updated

Classical definition: If the lord of the 9th and Venus are posited in their own or exaltation houses identical with a Trikona or a Kendra, the resulting Yoga is Lakshmi. In modern terms: The planet that rules the 9th house and Venus are each in their own sign or their sign of exaltation, and each is in a kendra or a trikona (the 1st, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th or 10th house). This is the Phaladeepika form. The Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra gives a different Lakshmi Yoga, which is a separate rule on this page. Houses are counted from the rising sign (Lagna): the 1st house is the rising sign itself. Source: Phaladeepika, Adhyaya 6, sloka 21 and 24 (V. Subrahmanya Sastri's translation).
