What it means

Pancha Mahapurusha means five great persons. Each comes from a different planet: Mars (Ruchaka), Mercury (Bhadra), Jupiter (Hamsa), Venus (Malavya), Saturn (Shasha).

The recipe is the same for all five. The planet must stand in its own sign or its exalted sign, and it must also stand in a kendra from the Lagna. Strong planet, strong house. Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra gives each one a personality: Ruchaka is bold and commanding, Bhadra is sharp and articulate, Hamsa is wise and respected, Malavya is refined and comfortable, Shasha is disciplined and authoritative.

It is easier to read about than to pass. About 1 chart in 3 has at least one, so most have none. Having two is remarkable.

This rule shows what the builder can do. Five full conditions, each with its own pair of checks, joined by one "any of these". Open the rule to see how it is built.
