Mridanga Yoga

Classical definition: If the lord of Lagna is strong and the other grahas occupy Kendras, Konas, their own bhavas or their exaltation rashis, Mridanga Yoga is formed. In modern terms: The planet that rules the 1st house is strong. Every other planet from the Sun to Saturn is in the 1st, 4th, 5th, 7th, 9th or 10th house, or in its own sign, or in its sign of exaltation. The text says "others"; here that means the other planets from the Sun to Saturn. A planet is strong when its Shadbala ratio is above 1 (its strength is more than the minimum it needs) and it is not debilitated. Houses are counted from the rising sign (Lagna): the 1st house is the rising sign itself. Source: Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, Chapter 36, verse 17 (verse numbers follow the R. Santhanam translation).
